My name is Brian Guzman, and I am a lifelong Providence resident, public servant, and community advocate running for Providence City Council in Ward 11. I was raised in the neighborhood I hope to represent, and I understand the importance of strong communities, responsive government, and making sure residents have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

I attended Providence Public Schools, including Robert L. Bailey Elementary School and Charles N. Fortes Elementary School, before attending Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, a public charter school in Providence. I later continued my education at the University of Rhode Island.

I have lived in Ward 11 for more than 15 years. As both a homeowner and renter in the ward, I understand firsthand the challenges facing our neighbors, including housing affordability, neighborhood cleanliness, and the need for city services that are responsive and reliable.

My commitment to public service grew through my experience working in city government as a Mayoral Advance for Mayor Brett Smiley. Through that role, I gained firsthand experience understanding how City Hall works and how decisions made by local government impact residents, families, and small businesses every day. The work I am most proud of is helping residents and small business owners navigate city government, connecting them with the right departments and resources, and knowing that my efforts helped solve real problems.

Outside of government, I am actively involved in my church community at Christian Community Church, where I participate in food pantry distributions, deliveries, media ministry, and outreach efforts. I have also supported young people in my neighborhood through tutoring and helping students reach their goals.

I am running for City Council because I believe public service is about listening, showing up, and delivering results. I have always had a passion for helping others and thinking critically about the challenges facing our communities. I see City Council as an opportunity to put those values into action and serve the people of Ward 11.

I was motivated to run because I believe our neighborhoods deserve more attention to everyday concerns like illegal dumping, excessive trash, access to resources, and creating more opportunities for residents to succeed.

I am focused on improving public safety, strengthening city services, expanding affordable housing opportunities, investing in education, creating opportunities for young people, and addressing homelessness with practical and compassionate solutions.

I believe public service requires integrity, compassion, and hard work. I have learned the importance of listening to residents, addressing challenges directly, and working collaboratively to find solutions. I am committed to building a stronger Ward 11 and a better Providence where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
